If you have ever imagined what Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe would have looked like covered in tattoos, this series of images holds the answer.
Wayne Maguire’s series has won the attention of fans and celebrities all over the world.
Mr Maguire, 32, a freelance artist, said: “I’ve been drawing from a very young age which led to me studying classical animation in college.
“My inspiration came from my love of drawing portraits, as well as a love for tattoos and movies. Combining these interests led to the creation of my series, which I’ve called INKED IKONS.”
Mr Maguire creates the pieces with pencil and ink, with each portrait normally taking between 12 to 15 hours to complete.
He said: “Aaron Paul, who plays Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, contacted me and bought two Breaking Bad designs and shared a photo of himself holding his portrait.
“A few weeks later he commissioned a piece of the show’s creator Vince Gilligan and gave it to him as a gift.
“He also gave my Heisenberg piece to Bryan Cranston, so all three have a piece of my art, which is amazing.”
The publicity boost which came from having celebrity fans led to a German company offering to help him launch a line of t-shirts.
Mr Maguire, of Cork, Ireland, added: “My most popular portraits after the Breaking Bad designs are The Joker, Marilyn Monroe and Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead.”
Other film icons in Waynes collection include Jack Nicholson, Christopher Walken, Clint Eastwood and Audrey Hepburn.
