Wedding diet

Before after weight watchers

A receptionist who was terrified of losing her man on their first date because she was fat is preparing to marry him now she has lost nearly EIGHT stone.

Zoe Salter, 26, who at her heaviest weighed 17st 12lb, was convinced her partner Liam Blake, 27, a retail manager, would run out on their first date because she was too overweight.

But now, having lost an incredible five dress sizes, Miss Salter, of Swanage, is getting ready to be fitted for a wedding dress ahead of her wedding in April 2015.

Having completely overhauled her diet, she is in training to compete in the 2015 London marathon as part of her aspiration to lose a further ten pounds before her wedding day.

She said: “I was so worried that Liam would do a runner on our first date – but now I’m the runner.

“I’ve completely transformed my life since I met Liam, and feel so much better for it.”

Miss Salter’s weight piled on during childhood as she came to rely on comfort eating.

She said: “I had struggled with my weight for years – I couldn’t remember a time when I hadn’t felt fat.

“My dad hadn’t been around for most of my childhood, and I filled the void with as many crisps and cakes as I could get my hands on.”

By March 2011, she tipped the scales at 17st 12lbs and was wearing size 22 clothing, prompting her to sign up for Weight Watchers.

Miss Salter said: “The reason I started Weight Watchers was because I hated myself and the way I looked. I also had back pain a lot of the time and I needed to do something in order to have a happy life again.”

Progress was slow until August that year, when she met Mr Blake on the online dating website, Plenty of Fish.

She said: “Our first date was at a bowling alley and I was terrified he would walk out on me. I’d lost a few pounds at slimming club, but I still felt hideous.

“Liam didn’t care about my weight and we quickly fell for each other. He was kind and charming, and with his support I knew I could shift the weight – not just for him, but for me too.”

Miss Salter took up running and had dropped five dress sizes by August 2013, just in time for the couple’s second anniversary dinner, when Mr Blake proposed.

Miss Salter said: “I was over the moon – I knew Liam was my soulmate.

“We set the date for April 2015 which made me even more determined to get to my goal weight of 10 stone – there was no way I was being a fat bride.”

Today, Miss Salter weighs 10st 2lb and can fit into size 12 dresses.

At her heaviest, Miss Salter would eat sugary cereal for breakfast, a takeaway burger or chicken meal for lunch, and a large meaty pizza for dinner. Miss Salter would also consume numerous chocolate bars, packets of crisps and cartons of fruit juice in between meals.

Today, Miss Salter eats fruit salad for breakfast, a toasted wholemeal bagel with light spread for lunch and for dinner she has steak pie with broccoli, cauliflower and yoghurt. She still eats the occasional chocolate bar, but tries to choose healthy alternatives where possible.

Miss Salter said: “I’ve never been happier with my new figure and my perfect fiance.

“I can’t wait to walk down the aisle in my beautiful size 10 wedding dress, and two weeks after tying the knot I know he’ll be waiting for me – at the finishing line of the London Marathon.”
